Sandra Martorell has a bachelor’s degree in Audiovisual Communication, technical certificate in Artistic Photography, master’s in Artistic Production and PhD in Cultural and Communication Industries. Her career has been connected to the audiovisual world from different positions and roles, both in academic and professional contexts.

Throughout her teaching career she has taught classes on Audiovisual Communication, Journalism, and Fine Arts. She is currently a lecturer in the Department of Audiovisual Communication, Documentation and History of Art at UPV.

As a researcher she approaches visual culture, combining image with media born on the social web, such as digital social media, something which she combines with artistic practice. She is member of the ArtiCom (Communication, Art and Visual Culture) research group (UPV) and collaborator in GAME (research group on Internships, Media and Entertainment) ans Mediaccions (both from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) as well as DigiDoc (research group on digital documentation and interactive communication) at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Her artistic work is essentially expressed through photography. Her work has formed part of exhibitions held, not only in Spain, but also in other countries such as Austria, Hungary, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, France, Lithuania and Costa Rica.
